Quilting Rates
Square Inch Pricing
(does not include batting)

The cost of quilting is 2.5 cents per square inch for all loose-density designs, with a minimum quilting charge of $50.
Example: A quilt top is 60 inches x 80 inches.
60 x 80 = 4800 x .025 = $120.
The minimum quilting charge means that the square inch price for a small quilt or table runner will be rounded up to the $50 minimum.
Batting
I use and stock Pellon Natural Cotton Batting, Quilters Dream batting in the Bamboo, and in Quilters Dream Green. If you wish to have Quilters Dream Poly, 100 Cotton, 80/20, Black, or Angel, please note it on the Stitch My Story page and we can discuss.
*****Batting is a separate charge and is NOT included in the square inch price.
I charge for batting by the linear inch from queen rolls of batting except in the case of special orders. I will use only what is needed for your quilt (smallest side + 6" margin) and charge per inch.
-
Cotton Batting: natural fibers, warm, will shrink and create "wrinkly" look after washing, $0.40/inch
-
Bamboo Batting: natural fibers, cooling, will shrink and create "wrinkly" look after washing, $0.50/inch
-
Green Batting: made with recycled bottles, warmer yet breathable, will not shrink like cotton - acts like polyester batting (keep in mind, cotton quilt top may shrink without shrinkage of batting), $0.34/inch
For example, if you have a 60" x 80" quilt, I would cut 66" of the batting of your choice.
66" of Pellon Cotton @ $0.40/in = $26.40
66" of Bamboo @ $0.50/in = $33.00
66" of QD Green @ $0.34/in = $22.44
Thread

I stock various thread colors in 40 wt in Maxi-Lock thread and Omni thread.
My personal style attempts to match or blend thread color with the lighter areas of your quilt. But this is YOUR quilt! Let me know if you have a preference on thread color.
The thread for one color (for both the top and back) is included in price. Additional thread colors will be additional charge.
Photography
I am an amateur photographer and upon completion of the quilting, I will take photos of your quilt in my well-lit studio. I will then text/email you those images to use however you would like. To comply with my copyright, if posting publicly, credit Quilt N Things, LLC for the photo and quilting services. This service is included in your square inch price. I will also post the photos on Quilt N Things LLC social media/website and credit you for the creation of the quilt top!
Shipping

Shipping your top and backing to me: my shop is located in Pennsylvania, USA, and would be happy to receive your top and backing by mail. I'd recommend sending your materials enclosed in a plastic bag to protect against possible moisture in transit and then placed in a hard-sided cardboard box. Make sure the box is securely taped and labeled clearly.
Return shipping: I will send your quilt back to you in the manner described above via USPS Priority mail (using flat rate when possible/economical). Priority mail comes with $100 of insurance and a tracking number but please indicate on your Stitch My Story form if you would like me to buy any additional insurance on your behalf. It's a great idea to insure your valuables against loss or damage while with the Postal Service, but I don't require it. Once shipped, I am not responsible for any damage. Please check with the Postal Service if you have any questions concerning the insurance. All shipping costs will be included on the invoice.
Other Costs
I'm required by the State of Pennsylvania to collect a 6% sales tax on the quilting service, any products, and shipping if you are in PA. Out of state clients will not be charged sales tax by me but may be required to pay use tax in their state. Please check with your taxing agency.
If you prefer not to ship backing, we can work together to get you a backing that complements your quilt top. The backing will be an extra charge and will be indicated on your invoice. Sales tax will be calculated on the cost of the backing based on your address.
Payment
Before starting your quilt, a $50.00 nonrefundable deposit is required and the remainder will be due before shipping/delivery of your completed quilt. After completing the STITCH MY STORY info form, I will contact you about the deposit.
After the work is complete, I will invoice you for the remaining amount. I appreciate timely payments as that enables me to mail your project(s) back to you right away.
